Ivo Knoepfel, Dr. Sc. Techn., CIIA 

Founder and Managing Director

Ivo Knoepfel, Dr. Sc. Techn., CIIAIvo is a certified international investment analyst and Swiss portfolio manager by training. Before founding onValues, he worked for responsAbility, a specialist asset manager active in the field of microfinance and development finance. Previously, he led the rating and index research at RobecoSAM where he contributed to launching and managing the Dow Jones Sustainability Index family. He is currently a trustee of PeaceNexus, a foundation active in the peacebuilding field, and a director of Terra21 Foundation, active in the fields of climate change adaptation and peacebuilding.

In a previous position, he was Head of Corporate Environmental Management and Climate Change Adviser at Swiss Reinsurance Company and in that function helped the company implement its CSR/sustainability management and a sizeable investment portfolio focusing on environmental and clean-tech opportunities.

Ivo studied process engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), followed by post-graduate studies in environmental law, economics and science at the University of Zurich and a doctoral thesis on the life-cycle assessment of energy systems at ETH.

Ivo is member of the Advisory Board of the Center for Sustainable Finance and Private Wealth at the University of Zürich and was until recently lecturer at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences ZHAW. He regularly publishes on issues relevant to long-term and sustainable investing and is a member of several industry bodies and associations, including the Association of International Wealth Management and the Swiss Financial Analyst Association. He has been a founding member of the UNEP Financial Services Initiative, a co-chair of the Global Reporting Initiative's Measurement Working Group and a member of the Steering Committee for the Principles for Investors in Inclusive Finance. He is a senior advisor to the Global Footprint Network and  to Swisscontact, a foundation active in the development field.
