Ivo Knoepfel, Dr. Sc. Techn., CIIA
Founder and Managing Director
Ivo is a certified international investment analyst and Swiss portfolio manager by training. Before founding onValues, he worked for responsAbility, a specialist asset manager active in the field of microfinance and social investments. Previously, he was Head of Rating and Index Research at SAM Sustainable Asset Management. At SAM he helped to develop and then implement the Dow Jones Sustainability Index family, leading a team of 15 analysts.
Before that, he was Head of Corporate Environmental Management and Climate Change Adviser at Swiss Reinsurance Company and in that function helped the company implement a sizeable investment portfolio focusing on environmental and clean-tech opportunities.
Ivo studied process engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), followed by post-graduate studies in environmental law, economics and science at the University of Zurich and a doctoral thesis on the life-cycle assessment of energy systems at ETH.
He regularly publishes on issues relevant to long-term and sustainable investing, and is a member of several industry bodies and associations, including the Swiss Financial Analyst Association. He has been a founding member of the UNEP Financial Services Insurance Initiative and a co-chair of the Global Reporting Initiative's Measurement Working Group. He is a member of the Steering Committee for the Principles for Investors in Inclusive Finance, as well as a member of SustainAbility’s Council and of the Financial Advisory Board of Swisscontact, a leading foundation active in the development field.
David Imbert
Consultant (Trainee)
David is a Consultant at onValues with prior experience in investment banking and sustainable energy finance. He was previously a Project Officer at the UNEP Sustainable Energy Finance Alliance in Basel, Switzerland, where he was responsible for research initiatives and organizational development for an international group of government clean energy investors.
Before this, David was an Associate in the New York headquarters of Compass Advisers, LLP, an investment banking partnership specialized in mergers and acquisitions. At Compass, David worked on transactions in the energy, real estate and technology sectors, and provided restructuring advice for clients in the transportation and financial services sectors. He has also previously worked for Fidelity Investments in Boston and for DHI Water and Environment in Denmark.
David holds a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Amherst College and an MSc in Environmental Change and Management from Oxford University.
